Acupuncture & Moxibustion

Acupuncture & Moxibustion

Acupuncture is a treatment which derives from Chinese medicine and is used as a treatment method for a variety of conditions. It is based on scientific evidence which highlights how it stimulates nerves under the skin. This results in pain relieving substances to be produced therefore providing beneficial effects and helping to relieve pain.

Acupuncture is able to stimulate alpha delta nerve fibres which help to stimulate certain areas in the brain. This in turn helps to release chemical neurotransmitters which help in blocking pain signals from being relayed to the brain.

The Chinese explain how acupuncture is based on energy flowing through the body in channels called meridians. It is thought that when the bodies energy is not flowing freely it causes illness and problems. Acupuncture can help to restore the flow of energy and therefore health.

Acupuncture is useful in treating a large variety of conditions, some examples are lower back pain, neck pain, headaches, irritable bowel syndrome. It can also be used in fertility treatment and problems such as asthma.

At the Signol Centre we are registered and recognised by the British Acupuncture Council and the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.

Homeopathy is a treatment which is based on highly diluted substances. It is a complementary medicine and is used to treat both acute and chronic conditions.
Homeopathy is perfectly safe for use, this is due to the medicines being made from a very small amount of the active ingredient. Homeopathy is also safe for babies, children and pregnant women.

The most common conditions homeopathic treatment is used for are;
High blood pressure
Skin conditions such as Eczema
Mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety

According to the British Homeopathic Association several celebrities listed on their website are users of homeopathic medicine.
